This course has seven units consisting of an introductory unit and a unit for each of the world’s major religions: Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. The final unit will be an independent study on a religion of your own choosing.

For each of the major world religions we will explore:
  • Historical Origins
  • Founders and Architects
  • Sacred texts
  • Practices, Rituals and Ceremonies
  • Influence on Canadian Culture
We will also explore seminars on the following Ethical and Philosophical Topics:

  • the problem of evil
  • life after death
  • creation
  • science and technology (the problems of cloning?)
  • cults
  • prayer (power of suggestion or divine intervention?)
As time permits, we will also include studies of:
  • Greek and Roman Mythology
  • Bahá'í faith
  • Paganism and Neopaganism
